We wanted to join a family meeting in York and had booked a train journey from Reading. The train strike intervened and Driving Miss Daisy agreed to drive us there (a four-hour drive) on a Monday and back again on Thursday of the same week. Wonderful service and the driver, Terence, was always on time and treated us sympathetically.

I wanted to say how wonderful the taxi driver was who picked my client up from a day centre on 1/7/22 . His attitude and manner really helped. Well done and thanks.

The first time we used Driving Miss Daisy a member of our staff accompanied our resident to an appointment and on their return remarked on what professional, friendly and competent service they had received. So when we needed transport for another resident they were the obvious choice. Again they did not disappoint. We have now booked regular transport with the company because we know that our service users will be well taken care of and it is not always necessary for us to act as a chaperone.

Senior Citizens | Families | Vulnerable

Driving Miss Daisy are an internationally successful companion driving service.  Our Didcot based service centre supports Didcot and surrounding Oxfordshire areas.

We provide a much needed and valued service bridging the gap between taxis, public transport and voluntary agencies; primarily helping senior citizens but also families and vulnerable people of all ages.

Our companion drivers collect people from their door, drive them to their destination, provide whatever help they may require and take them safely back home.

All of our vehicles are mobility enabled and accessible to all wheelchair types.  Each can carry up to 3 passengers and one wheelchair and have ample cargo space.

Despite the name, we are not just a driving company.  Driving Miss Daisy Didcot offer companionship, in or out of the home.  This could be anything from having a cup of tea and a biscuit with someone who lives alone, taking them out shopping or to a local or even longer distance activity or simply go for a walk together.   Watch our short video for more.

Being on the end of a phone can add a sense of reassurance or even spending time away from a day to a few days visiting friends and family, a place of interest such as a trip to the seaside or going to a concert, or mini-break.

It is about your choice and what makes you happy, what you enjoy.

We recognise that there is an increasing need to support various members of our communities and help them stay independent and safe. Examples include, but are not limited to:
  • Senior citizens who want to maintain their independence
  • Parents requiring help taking children to/from after school activities
  • Organisations who need to take people to/from appointments or activities
  • Young adults who need safe, secure and trusted transport
  • Lone travellers in need of transport at vulnerable times or locations
  • People with disabilities or specialist needs
  • Prescription collections or others tasks such as grocery or gift shopping

We offer added value which other organisations can't, such as:
  • Meeting the client directly at their door, we will not just 'toot' and wait outside
  • Settling them into their homes with a cuppa tea or a snack if required
  • Communicating with parents/carers that their child is safely collected and dropped off
  • Assisting and accompanying vulnerable people to and from the vehicle, to and from their destination and, if required, staying with them for an appointment or a fun day out or activity.

Our pricing is very competitive – you’ll be surprised at how cost-effective our service is.  Contact us for a bespoke quote tailored to your individual needs.
